In this program, experts help older adults understand and protect themselves from financial exploitation. Content areas explored are: -A discussion regarding the types of cons, scams and rip-offs that are currently being performed against older persons -Tips for preventing elder exploitation -Examples of older adult exploitation -What can older persons do to protect themselves from scams and con artists? -What help is available for someone who has been taken by a scam? -What can families do to help protect a vulnerable older loved one from such scams? -What is and/or should be the role of law enforcement, the aging network, and the legal community in helping to prevent the financial exploitation of older persons? -How common is financial exploitation of older adults by family members?
